FAQ'S

Please reach us at Sherriew@sherriesdognation.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  1. All dogs are housed separately; however, if you specify that your dog cannot play with others, they will get a one on one play session with staff. If your pup loves to play with others, we offer supervised play sessions. We separate by age, temperament, size, and energy levels.

  1. Puppies under the age of one: we require that every puppy is fully vaccinated for at least three weeks before their stay so their immune system has time to adjust to the vaccine.
  2. Adults: if your pooch has gone less than 6 months without laps between vaccines, there is no need to wait after getting them up to date.
  3. Adults: If your pup has gone longer than six months without receiving a vaccine, we require a two-week waiting period before they are able to stay with us.
  4. Please submit your pet’s vaccination records online before your stay. The records MUST have a clear given date as well as an end date.
  5. Bordetella- (Canine cough)- required annually when administered by injection. Required every 6 months if given intranasally.
  6. Canine Influenza- Both doses.
  7. DHPP / DHLPP or DAPP- 1 or 3 years (per your veterinarian)
  8. Rabies- 1 or 3 years (per your veterinarian)

  1. The area is equipped with frosty air conditioning for those hot summer days and heating for the frigid months. We also monitor dogs during outside playtime and if we see any signs of them getting overheated or tired, we bring them in to help them cool down in the air conditioning. Once your pup is cooled down, we resume playtime inside. The playing never has to stop!

  1. We are equipped to administer oral, intramuscular, and subcutaneous medications/fluids upon request. We require that all medications come in original packaging and provide detailed instructions on when and how they are administered. All supplies needed for proper administration must be provided by the owner. We do not offer intravenous injections at this time. We do not charge extra to administer medications.

  1. Yes! We love to spoil senior pets. We know that as dogs get older, it gets harder for them to do things for themselves. Your pup may be having trouble getting around the house, going to the bathroom on their own, feeding themself, etc.
  2.  If you are not comfortable leaving your senior dog at home while you are out and about during the day, look no further!  Bring them in for daycare or know that they are safe and loved while you are away on a trip. We can help them get around, hand feed if needed, and so much more! They may get around slower than they used to but they sure will love the enrichment and adoration they get here.

  1. While we love caring for all doggies, to reduce the risk of any complications post surgery, we do not accept pets that have non dissolvable stitches or staples. We accept pets with dissolvable stitches after a 2 week timeframe. Must show proof of when the surgery was before the scheduled drop off day.

  1. Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to take in dogs that are currently going through radiation therapy or anything similar.

  1. Yes, as long as it can fit in a washer. We find that your pup’s stay is made easier with familiar surroundings, toys, and smells. Feel free to send a tshirt that you have recently worn with them so they can smell you throughout their stay with us!

  1. This is completely up to you! We offer Taste of the Wild puppy and adult formulas for $2 a day. We recommend bringing your own pet’s food if they are on a special veterinary prescribed diet, have food allergies, or have a history of a sensitive stomach.
  2. If you choose to bring your own food, we ask that all food is pre bagged and pre portioned for each meal and ready to go so we can ensure proper feeding patterns and nutritional value.

             3.  We also provide bowls that are secured in the individual kennels so you do not have to bring any bowls unless it is a bloat bowl or something of the sort.

We are able to refrigerate and thaw special diets for your pups.

  1. We have someone on site that comes down to check on the dogs during storms to make sure everyone is safe. Once we get down to the pups, the first thing we do is turn the dimmer on so there is some light in the room. Then, we turn up the music to drown out as much of the noise as possible. Kennels will be covered ¾ of the way if your pup still seems a bit scared. After everyone has calmed down, we will monitor from the cameras that we have set up to make sure that everyone is content.
  2. A caregiver will be available at all times to come calm down anyone who needs extra attention. If it is quite severe and prescription meds are not provided, we reserve the right to provide your dog benadryl to help calm their nerves. This medication will not be automatically given when there is a storm. We will do everything in our power to avoid giving your dog medication. We mainly focus on cuddles, soft voices, and reassurance that everything is okay. If your pup is still scared, we will administer medications. If your dog is a risk to others, or themself during a storm, we recommend consulting your vet to talk about different tranquilizer options.

  1. We have excellent veterinarians close by in case of emergency. Woodland Animal Hospital, a 24/7 emergency care facility, is just a nine minute drive from our location so you can rest assured that if anything were to happen, your pup would have the best care possible, as fast as possible. If an emergency were to occur and we cannot get you on the phone, we will take your dog to Woodland Animal Hospital and you will see the charges on your statement at checkout. We are not responsible for any payment in case of emergency.
  2. Of course, you would be notified immediately in any case of illness or emergency. In non-emergency cases, you will be notified of a pet's symptoms and have the option for us to continue monitoring the condition (if not contagious or harmful to other pets), or you can come pick them up early and take them to the vet if you feel that is needed. At this time, we are not able to offer transportation to and from the vet if it is not an emergency.

  1. Always! We keep fresh water in the kennels with your pups at all times. Water is also provided inside and outside during playtimes.

  1. We love to feed exact measurements so your pup is getting 100% of the nutrition they need. We always give food bags back so you can reuse them for the next time your doggo stays with us!

  1. Here at Sherrie’s Dog Nation, we take the cleanliness of our facility excessively seriously. To start, all kennels are cleaned out daily, and pups are given fresh water several times a day in a clean bowl. Bowls in common areas are cleaned several times a day and refreshed with water.
  2. Our team has a checklist that is completed every day to ensure that everything is in tip top shape. This includes wiping down surfaces, couches, sweeping, and mopping everywhere, among other things.
  3. We also have weekly tasks that maintain our standard of cleanliness. These include cleaning outlets and cords plugged into them, disinfecting gates, and making sure that appliances are running smoothly. Beyond this, we have weekly deep cleaning tasks where we scrub-a-dub-dub the tiniest of corners to ensure a hygienic environment. If you have any in depth questions about our cleaning routine, don’t hesitate to ask when you bring your pooch in!

  1. Boarding over peak times of the year will be just a smidge pricier. Our employees are working when they could be with family, so we want to compensate them well! We charge $38 per night for the first dog and $36 for any additional pets. All major calendar holidays and federal holidays

  1. Being a small business, we do not have the staff to be able to handle human aggressive pups- no need to worry if they don’t like other pups, as we can keep them separated. We also are not accepting any females that are in heat, as a male dog will do anything to get to a female in heat- we do not want any accidental litters! You must wait 3 weeks to ensure they are completely out of heat.

  1. We are often busy giving love and playing with pups so it does get hard to answer the phone from time to time. If we miss you, feel free to message us and we can get back to you faster that way. If you know you 100% want to board with us, head over to our Home page, click BOOK NOW, fill out all the information about your pup and create your booking. We will confirm the booking online. All pets must have current vaccinations sent in before drop off day.

  1. - No show to any service: No deposit refund

  1. While there is not always someone in the room with the pups, there is someone right upstairs in case anything needs attention during the night. If that changes due to scheduling, you will be notified. We also have cameras set up to monitor the dogs that are checked often. These cameras will also turn on if there is motion, signaling that something may be happening.

  1. Unfortunately, no vaccination is 100% effective against illness. Many things could contribute to why your pup isn’t feeling well. Any vaccine given to a puppy under the age of 6 weeks, or an immunocompromised adult may become ineffective. If vaccines are not stored in a proper temperature controlled environment, that can render them useless. Along with this, if the vaccine is administered improperly can lead to vaccine failure. Some vaccinations can block out other shots when given too close together. At the same time, the body’s immune system needs regular doses so their immune system remembers how to fight the illness. Here is a short list of things that could block a dog’s ability to make antibodies: fever, steroids, disease, and maternal antibodies (puppies).

  1. Fire is a major concern for pet owners. We have the same concerns and fear about leaving our dogs at home, unattended if something were to happen. Fortunately, we take every action we can to prevent a fire. We take certain precautions to help you rest easy knowing your pet is protected.
  2. Our first priority, if there ever were to be a fire, is to get all of the dogs in our care out of the facility. They will be ushered into the back yard, where we will assess stress levels of the dogs. From there, we will get them into a car, safe and sound, and retreat from the facility.
  3. The best way to deal with an emergency fire is to prevent it in the first place. We have smoke detectors, as well as carbon monoxide detectors that will go off at the first sign of any emergency. We also have cameras set up to monitor in case of emergency.  All of our fire risk appliances are plugged into their own outlet, drastically decreasing the risk of any hazards. Also, we do not put up curtains or wood furniture indoors, that way, if there is a fire, it will be a slow spread so there is plenty of time to get the pups out.
  4. We take cleaning of fire hazardous areas extremely seriously. Outlets and cords and checked daily to make sure they are all in proper working condition. We do have a few space heaters for the chilly winters that are cleaned everyday so there is no dust or fur that can get into them. We always keep them in an area that is away from anything slightly flammable.

  1. Here at Sherrie's Dog Nation, we only accept dogs that pass an evaluation. They must not be constant barkers and can peacefully rest in a kennel.
  2. We like to look at ourselves as a luxury kennel because we are so selective with who we board. Your pup will not have to endure hours of barking while trying to rest. They can also enjoy the home feel and grassy backyard!

  1. In order to assure comfort and a relaxed stay, stays that are 3+ nights MUST book a trial stay prior to overnight stay. This allows us to gauge how your pup reacts to a new environment and do a behavioral evaluation. We will learn his/her cues and really hone in on those little things that would make their boarding stay so much better. As a small business, we need to make sure that we are able to handle the size, and temperament of new pups. We also test to make sure they won't break out or destroy their kennel. They must be able rest and sleep without disturbance. Your dog’s trial stay doubles as daycare so they will be plenty tired when you come to pick them up.

  1. Here at Sherrie’s Dog Nation, we believe that safety should always come first. We determine group play by size, age, spay/neuter status, and temperament. We do have options for your dog to play with others, or they are able to get playtime by themselves (all with staff playing too).

  1. We never introduce dogs in confined spaces, as this could be a recipe for animosity. We have two separate outdoor areas where we begin by putting dogs on either side of the fence so they can smell each other and we can observe how they would feel about being together.
  2. If the dogs are showing signs that they want to play, the next step is putting the dog with more energy on a leash. From here, the calmer one can roam around and interact only if they want to. When the calmer dog comes over to check out the other pooch, we divert the hyper dog’s attention by keeping them constantly moving so that they are less likely to jump.
  3.  Once we see that they are enjoying their time together, we will take the leash off and let them run together. We are always on the lookout for body language that tells us if a dog is not happy in a situation. We will always put your dog’s best interest and safety first.
